Its after a long time i wrote any post.. got sometime to share something now !!!!!!!
JULY 6 2010 : BANGALORE
It was my first day into corporate world. Pushing myself into a huge network felt like a baby learning how to walk his first steps.STRANGE but TRUE!!!!!!!!!
One week of full training on how society works in this, i finally got relief of no more mind drill trainings :).. In my words i call it as HR training !!! since i hate management trainings. I think these skills can be learned over by experience, not by learning from some classes.
After that i got my tech trainings for about 20 days. It was really fun. Learning new things and implication of those is always fun. There are two things , first u can get exposed to new things and second no one asks u why even if u commit mistake..:)
Then the real thing comes into your life.. It tells you that you are no more in COLLEGE !!!!!!!! thats the worse part.. I had experienced one small example of it myself. Time teaches everything.
But as always said,"A coin has two faces" . In the same way even-though i felt missing college days, its nature of human being to get adjusted to circumstances. Find chances, opportunities to get a little smile on your face. In the same way i got it. Eventhough getting new friends wasn't that difficult for me, but somethings are always new !!!!!!!!!!
Oh i forgot of most interesting topic of this post !!!!!!!!.. "BANGALORE" .. Silicon city or whatever they call. I call it as a "MECHANICAL CITY". Everything is machine here ( i am including human beings too). I dont even get a glimpse of how almost 2.5 months passed away. Its just like yest i came here from my hometown.!!!!
Every IT guy works for 5 days, enjoys for 2 days. Initially i used to think that, i will get two days holidays in a weekend!!! will have a blast..
Now also i laugh on myself, how foolish was that thinking. Here people plan their weekends also, gosh!!!!!!!
Now comes part of managing financial resources. Oh cost of living is high compared to other places in karnataka!!. Having food outside daily made me to remind home food :) missing a lot still. After getting good salary also difficult part to manage it. If you try to be COOL in that matter, everything gets over.. If you try to SAVE too much, you need to put that money into doc s pocket :)...
GETTING MATURED : eventhough this title might not suit this post that accurate, i thought it will be somewhat deeply related. Experiencing new mode of life makes human to change his way of thinking like being responsible .
Now things changed lot. Its like back to life again!!!! Swimming into sea initially will be challenging and tiring.. But once you get used to it, its all like piece of cake :)

HI..........................bye.. (forgot something to say )
One nice winter evening... The weather at my college campus was very nice.. After a nice nap of 2 hours in noon i came to mpa with my hostel friends ( mpa- campus tea stall) .. It was like a daily routine. Come to m pa and have tea in evening. Some s half an hour drinking chota tea ( half glass), gossiping, chatting with friends.
The same thing supposed to be happen on that day, but something else also happened...
One cool breeze, some one smiling and coming to mpa with friends.. It suddenly did catch my attention towards the wonderful smile ... For a moment i was not in the world.. Just for the first time my whole attention concentrated in a single smile :) OH GOD, if u want to give me one wish so that i can travel time back, i want to go to that moment!!!!!!!!!!
The gal with a beautiful smile is approaching slowly near me... I got a better picture of her as and as she came near, she was more beautiful than her smile..!!!! That day first time in my life my eyes didn turn off from her face until she became invisible as i left out with friends back to hostel..
That day i couldn able to sleep well... All night she was in my dreams.. I was blaming myself that atleast i could ve said hi to her and get introduced.. But the biggest problem with me was i couldn able to speak anything to a unknown gal, not even a HI...
As time passed on i started forgetting that event, since i didn see that gal anymore in college.. Again the fate made us to meet, YES,, this time some common friend was there.. In some college event.. I was working for event, and got to see her also working for same.. OH again my heart beat started to beat at a rate of 100/min.. This time i determined to say her HI.. At the time i decided , she left out.. Didn find her again.. But this time got to know her name..
The semester came to end, exams and all. Got busy.. didnt had time to think on any of these things!!!!!!!.. Next semester came, with a fresh air.. Since it was an even semester, it contained a bunch of college technical & branch fests ... This time i got some responsible job in our technical fest.. So i had to handle too many things,, assign things to people, make them to work.. It so happened that i saw that gals name in list of volunteers.. So i decided this time somehow i need to communicate with her.. I tried many permutations and combination's ( finally something from maths worked out here ).. Finally got some end result to sort thing out..
This was the first time i was going to speak with her.. So i prepared myself with variety of things.. She was as usually sitting with her friends and working for the fest.. I approached her and since she was one of volunteers, i went and said ... "HI" .. that's it,, she smiled and replied back "HELLO".. i didnt get a further word to speak after that when i saw her beautiful smile for the third time.. I got dumb stuck.. Somehow recovered myself and said the things to be done for the event, which i never thought of speaking.. I got nervous!!!!!!!!!...
Again said a bye and saw the superb smile :) ..... The whole conversation went with a HI an BYE......
The fest got over, thought out the fest, whenever we were infront of each other at some occasion, only three things happened.. HI smile BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didnt know why this was happening.. Then again that year we met several times, but no useful conversation at all........
NOW college came to end.. still we meet some times, but the RESULT sticks to HI & BYE>>..........
I don know what is logic behind this.. Being an engineer we learnt every possible logic to find solution to a problem.. But this problems logic , i guess GOD didnt fit into my mind..
Nevertheless, some great person said.. something u cant change in life..
LIFE GOES ON>> SOME INTERESTING THINGS HAPPEN......... SOME BAD THINGS ALSO HAPPEN>... BUT THE THINGS HAPPEN DURING COLLEGE LIFE WE CAN NEVER FORGET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some choco bites of SJCE!!!!!!!!!!! part 1
First year :
Usual class like school.. with all benches, boys and gals separate !!!!!!!!! It was not as i thought college classroom would be.. Well i thought atleast classmates and prof will be cool..
Another misconception.. All intelligent kids of mysore in my class.. with no mass bunks, no timepass during class.. !!!!!!! Infact they never understood the meaning of coll.. its like a school without uniform.. ok.. i found some friends with whom i can be with in class.. Finally i ended up with some unnamed group.. !!! We used to roam all mysore.. then first year started ending.. hmmmm.. i got to know mine is low attendance.. letter came to home.. OHHHHH.. dad rushed to coll and somewht managed by me.. first year gave me some good bites like friends, crush and bad bites like attendance and results which started decreasing exponentially ..!!!
Events shabd, cyberia, technologix, hostel day..
Shabd.. was memorable..
cyberia.. did some craft and mechanical work !!!
technologix.. just ate :)
hostel day... skit and enjoyment :)
some memories..
one beautiful day and a gal (friend) and new emotional attachement ;)
jayciana official volunteer, which helped to meet all contestants of fashion show ;)
movie after exam 7-11pm.. hostel at 1am.. walk of 7-8km.. jumping the compound...:)
training gals cricket team for jayciana.. :)

FUTURE NETWORKS
Networking plays an important role in our life. It brings people closer even though they r physically miles apart. The traditional networks are wired (optical) networks and wireless networks. The future of networking lies on the amount of traffic which is increasing day by day. Current optical networks are providing a transmission capacity of 100Gbits/sec per Ethernet (100GbE). Assuming the network traffic is going to double every two years we require transmission capacity atleast 100Tbits/sec in 2020. Assuming high network traffic in future due to growing population and business activities it is essential to make ultra high speed networks to support traffic and system reliability. These networks must also should make use of low power so as to consider the global warming. A huge bandwidth service is defined as circuit switched, highly reliable, low latency and dynamic end to end paths. Examples of these networks include, remote conferencing, e-commerce based on virtual face to face systems, remote diagnosis, remote teaching etc.
The networks requiring ultra high capacity, low power, high reliability and extremely low latency will require combination of following points. 1) Much higher speeds than OF comm. and wireless comm. 2)Efficient operation of the network. From the viewpoint of the environment we can’t increase the consumption of resources to increase capacity. And also developments in transfer and optical transmission technologies need to cope up with physical limits of optical fibers (OF).
The first physical limit is OF bandwidth. Core networks which transmit signals to long distances must make use of low loss wavelengths in the range 1450-1650nm. This 200nm bandwidth corresponds to the frequency band of 25THz. New technologies can help to increase frequency efficiency range from 0.4bits/s/Hz to tenfold so that entire low loss bandwidth range is utilized then we can able to get transmission capacity up to 100 THz. The second physical limit is optical power at the input. The current transmission power per unit of transmission bit is of the order of several tens of mill watts per terabit per second. If we increase transmission capacity to 100 THz, the power required at the input will be in the range of several watts. This exceeds threshold of fiber (about 1.5 to 2 watts) and fiber core melts which is known as fiber fuse phenomenon. Therefore to support growth of the traffic, we must not only utilize the potential of optical fiber by developing innovative technologies but also provide network resource utilization efficiency through fundamental network architecture.
To build ultrahigh speed networks the following points are considered to be essential for the architecture of the network. 1) Simplification of networks that use potential optical technology, such as introducing high capacity routers which avoid usage of intermediate optical-electrical-optical (OEO) regeneration. 2) Adaptive access, so that wireless and optical networks can be customized depending on bandwidth requirements.3) Efficient usage of network resources, such as allocation and adjustment of servers, routers etc.
The technologies which support this network architecture to achieve ultra high speed networks are, 1) Optical core network technology : This includes advanced optical transmission technology (multilevel modulation, OFDM etc), optical transparent network and elastic path(line capacity increases with increase in traffic). 2) Access network technology: This includes optical access network (has FTTH- Fiber to the home), terabit lan (providing multiwavelength interface) and ultrahigh speed wireless access technologies. 3) Device technology : This includes developing devices which provide high capacity, high sensitivity with low power consumption by using planar light wave circuit (PLC) and MEMS techniques in photonic crystal fibers.
The amount of information is growing erroneously, which can’t be handled by human by usage of current networking models. These networks will change the way how information is to be shared throughout the world. Thus the future networks will be ultra high speed networks, which contain high capacity and also low power so as to reduce the usage of resources and helping environment.

An Inspiring Speech By A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation.. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them.. Why? We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice. Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchard and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim.. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation. Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours. YOU say that our government is inefficient.. YOU say that our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination. YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits. |
Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand .
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?
Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.
When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government.. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.
Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.
Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians..
'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'
Lets do what India needs from us.
Thank you,
Dr. Abdul Kalam
